I Have a Substack Publication Now!
This is just a quick post to let you know that I started a Substack newsletter (it’s not REALLY a newsletter) and I’ve been posting about once a month there for a few months now. I sneaked in a link to it on the menu bar here but I didn’t actually talk about it.
Since some of you probably don’t follow me anywhere else, it made sense to let you know properly. Please subscribe, if you are so inclined.
The idea is not to abandon this website entirely, but to not put all my eggs in one basket. Blogs readership has declined in the last few years and it makes sense to diversify, in financial speak. Also, on here, because of the way I’ve written for years, I feel like I’m constrained to recipe recreations. On Substack, since I’m starting from scratch, I am giving myself more leeway to write about other historical food – and food culture – related things as well.
So far I’ve written about two plants that share a similar name similar uses, an observation about the lack of knives in Southeast Asia, and about culinary nostalgia among other things.
